We've just touched down in Shanghai, China, for the highly anticipated DRT Show Shanghai 2023, and we can hardly contain our excitement for what's to come. What is the DRT Show?
DRT is an acronym for the words diving, resort, and travel. These three words perfectly encapsulate the event's vision from founder Jason Chong, who wished to devise a platform that delivers support to partners, assists the growth and development of Asia's diving industry, and ultimately creates passionate divers who share a love for marine ecology. The inaugural event took place in Hong Kong in 2010 and has been held annually since, gaining tremendous popularity over the years. Today, it is Asia's largest international professional diving exhibition and trade expo, with each edition surpassing the previous one in scope and scale.
This year's show is returning stronger than ever after a brief hiatus due to the recent pandemic. The event planners have an impressive lineup of exciting events for the visitors, and we cannot wait to see it all in action.
What you can expect at the DRT Show
The show covers and promotes everything dive-related, including major dive equipment, diving institutions, hotel and resort services, publications, and more. The show will host over 65 countries, 1,368 exhibitors (including us), and nearly 500,000 visitors.
The DRT SHOW Shanghai 2023 is set to feature over 25 "professional marine lectures" that cover a diverse range of topics, including underwater photography, diving tourism, free diving, and diving equipment. Additionally, the event aims to celebrate the host country's culture through its "Ocean Culture Market," which will showcase various handmade marine-related cultural and creative products for exhibition and sale. For those seeking some excitement, the event also includes a "Lucky Draw", where attendees have the opportunity to win the latest diving equipment, marine accessories, and other exciting gifts.
What we are promoting at the show
Diving in the Maldives is an experience that is unlike any other. At the expo, we will present travellers with the opportunity to explore the best dive sites in the Maldives on a liveaboard, reducing the hassle of consistently packing and providing luxurious comfort and relaxation as you cruise to your destinations on the ocean.
With us, you can travel to the most picturesque areas across five central atolls of the Maldives and dive in the azure blue waters, home to colourful coral gardens, manta rays, tiger sharks, whale sharks, and other captivating marine life. There are also a plethora of fun activities that can be experienced, such as throwing a barbecue party on the beach and exploring uninhabited islands like a modern-day Robinson Crusoe. Or, if you are more inclined to relax, basking in comfort on the shaded sun deck of the liveaboard with a glass of your favourite cocktail overlooking the pristine waters of the Maldives, maybe more to your taste. And that is just a few of the various programmes we have in store for our travellers.
